Toronto Chapter updates: First call for Tour of the Valleys & Lakes and Vines

Hiya folks!

Seems like the weather finally warmed up and we got a few rides out! Congrats to all the riders that have already ticket off some of their PBP qualifier rides, you'll be finished before you know it!

🎉 First call for Tour of the Valleys & Lakes and Vines

We have another double header coming up next weekend with both the Tour of the Valleys 200 and the Lakes and Vines 300 starting at the same time from our Oakville location. The 200 is a supported brevet, so I'll be hiding at a secret control with some goodies and support if you need!

A note on Oakville starts

GO has reduced their Lakeshore West weekend morning trains as of April, which has impacted our schedule. Brevets that were previously GO accessible in the morning are no longer, which sucks. (I get it!)

If you were previously relying on GO to get to the start, I'd encourage you to reach out to the Randolist, or Slack to see if anyone can offer you a ride to the start! It's a great way to meet a new friend, and the finishes are still largely GO accessible.

✨ Access Grant!

We're still accepting applications for the Randonneurs Ontario Access Grant is designed to reduce barriers to the ultra-distance riding community. This grant is for someone from a group under-represented in the ultra-distance riding community that would have otherwise not been able to participate in Randonneurs Ontario events.

We'd appreciate as much signal boosting through whatever networks you have! You can check our facebook and instagram @RandonneursOntario for more cool posts about the grant.

Applications are open until midnight EDT on May 14, 2023

Our very own Mark Allen built this super cool PBP calculator tool that can help you build out your ideal PBP time schedule! It has all sorts of neat features and is clearly is from someone who likes to plan well! Great job, Mark!

You can request your own start time on the scheduled date and still receive ACP credit for each ride. Start times are limited to 5 riders each, so sign up early! Registration for Toronto rides close the Wednesday before the ride.
